I find this shaft to be pretty stiff for a "regular". There are many more sub flexes with Project X, so the standard flex designations for irons has not been as clear. When we chose for stock in our original AP2 ten years ago, we didn't see that club as a Tour played model. We expected it to be played by the better amateur so we tested both and with our test groups and the won. Have you ever wondered what the number designation on your Project X shaft means? You know, the , , and so on printed on the shaft. These numbers correspond with flexes from “regular” to “extra stiff plus”. While the flex is sometimes written on the shaft, many times it isn’t, leaving only the number to inform you of the flex. I would say that the Project X is about 2/3 the way toward stiff on the flex spectrum. My Aerotech Flexsteel shafts are not quite as stiff as s Dynamic Gold shafts.

IGNORED Project X 5. We appreciate that you found this thread instead of starting a new one, but if you plan to post here please make sure it's still relevant.

If not, please start a new topic. Thank you! Recommended Posts. January 2, Another of my Rifle Flighted 5. Fortunately last time I had to replace a shaft I was able to replace it with a non-flighted rifle, which as it was in the 8 iron wasn't a big problem, however I don't think I'm going to be that lucky again.

There is also a 5. Anyway, maybe someone can enlighten me. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy. I used to play S from KBS and TT and just switched to PX 5.

I played with Project X for three years in my Ping i20's before switching to Aerotech shafts. I would say that the Project X 5.

That was actually first time going through a legit fitting, and it really opened my eyes and changed the way I view equipment especially shafts.

Getting properly fit by someone who knows what they are doing and i trusted was a total game changed for me. In that short time went from inconsistent iron game to now it is probably biggest strength of my game.

Allowed me to get very dialed in and confidently know my yardages, which in turn lowered scores. To the point that this season I will most likely become scratch handicap, goal is plus handicap.

Think your a smart guy, Mr big attitude on a small forum. Guys like you are ten a penny. Spelling, grammar, seriously is that how you get your kicks?

Amazing what you can find out about people on the internet, wonder if you'll threaten to put a club over my head? Enjoy your day Martin.

Alex Tour Winner Dec 10, Interesting stuff. I would want the gram version too, thats spot on my weight but guess from what has been said that its quite stiff hence the love for PX 5.

Unlike you though I love the feel. Interestingly PX have put a graphic lately that shows PX 5. I guess they are sick of the questions about where the numbers sit.

Confusingly, those flex rating do not apply across all the PX range. PX flighted play about a half point softer and PXi are somewhere in between.

Original Rifles also play about a half flex softer, although they were frequency matched where the others were all weight matched. One way to overcome this is just to try them, get some LM info and forget about what number is on them.

I would only change the shafts if you really have the coin and are in a position to do so easily Luck Dcee. Posted 17 September - PM Why no love for the DG R shafts?

I switched from Nippon NS Pro and my ball flight is a lot straighter. Posted 18 September - AM Hows this for cant win I ordered PX 5.

I got 5. I took me 2 months to realize duh The only difference i noted after changing over was that i hit the 5.

They certainly didnt feel a whole lot stiffer, or result in any significant difference in flight or shape.

Then the head of my 6 iron flew off at the range, i gave them the shaft and asked them to retrieve the head and stick it back on. When they gave me the club back it had a s shaft stuck in it!?

Oh well, lets have a crack, feels very similar to the 5. The flex that corresponds with each number often changes based on the shaft model.

Even the Project X website lacks any kind of compiled guide, and only some of the individual shaft product pages reveal which numbers go with which flex.

Not to worry. Very very good info! Now I have good understanding what the numbers mean.

Now whether it's the stiffness of the 5. Log in to Reply. Deals and Shenanigans.
